3 things to consider before choosing your next bar or counter stools

The kitchen, for some, is the heart of the home; it’s a place to gather and share a casual meal, to entertain your guests or, a place to have your morning coffee. This understandably means picking bar or counter stools that are both stylish and comfortable is key. Three things you should consider before you shop for bar or counter stools: style, height, and design.

Before making any major decisions, you should determine what your design aesthetic is. Contemporary, eclectic, minimal, European-inspired? And the color palette you are leaning towards, neutrals, bold colors, etc.

One of our favorite looks is this modern kitchen space featuring neutral whites and beiges with accents of black and brass gold that create contrast and visual interest to this contemporary space. To create a bold and elevated kitchen space pair a neutral kitchen with a plush, upholstered counter stool like the Angelo Counter Stool in Black, Vintage Velvet with Black Metal for a dynamic look.

Figure out the height of your countertops

The key difference between a bar stool and a counter stool is the height. Counter height tables and kitchen islands are typically 36 inches high.

Opting for a counter stool that ranges from 24 to 26 inches seat height will give you enough legroom to comfortably sit at the countertop. Meanwhile, bar tops are usually around 40 to 42 inches high, we would recommend choosing a bar stool with a seat height that is about 28 to 30 inches high for the perfect seat.

Incorporate a classic silhouette with backrests and armrests in wood materials, like the Wishbone Counter Stool in Natural with Natural Seat Cord for a warm and inviting look.

Mix wood and metal accents in rich tones for a dynamic and sophisticated look. Combine a wooden dining set with black accents and minimal metal stools with a low back, like the Parson Counter Stool in Black, Vintage Velvet with Black Metal for an overall sophisticated and cohesive space.
